Ickenham District Guides
Rangers, Guides, Brownies and Rainbows have had a busy year.
Rangers, and Guides, have camped at Tolmers and Foxlease. Brownies
have been on pack holiday at Willowtree and joined in with Carnival
Creations at Harrow Arts Centre. Rangers helped at the Hillingdon
Half Marathon and the Ickenham Festival dance. Fundraising helped
several charities; Jeans for Genes, Children's Leukaemia, Children
in Need and the Shoe Box Christmas appeal.
The girls have had lots of fun, experiencing different challenges,
trips out and usually anything that involves food. Everyone enjoyed
a water fun day at HOAC in May.
Three guides from 4th Ickenham URC, Melanie Dent, Janine Hawkins
and Ruth Piper, have attained their Baden-Powell Challenge presented
to them by Division Commissioner Gill Hodgson.
As usual we are short of adult helpers and we are unable to re-open
the Red Rainbows due to lack of adult help.

Hitting the High Notes!
St Giles'
has a wonderful tradition of choral music supporting our worship.
This has been built over many years, during which time numerous
young people have benefited from their membership of the choir.
For some, music has become their profession and for others choral
singing remains a rewarding pastime. My own introduction to music
was when I first joined St Giles' choir at the age of nine, having
been recruited by one of my friends who was already a chorister.
I have been associated with the group ever since and I have seen
'first hand' the blossoming of many musical talents. So I am
looking forward to working with the choir in a slightly different
capacity from January through to Easter while John Miley is away
travelling. We have a good programme planned, including our usual
attendance at the Sunday Eucharist services, Choral Evensong
each month and other special services as we move towards Easter.
We are also planning a concert, combined with another local choir,
on Sunday 28th March (tickets available soon).
But we do need your help. We are very keen to recruit more
youngsters to join the 'top line', particularly boys and girls
in the age range 8-13 years. No experience is necessary and we
can offer lots of good music in a friendly group, with a few
outings and other activities thrown in. Some youngsters even
get the chance to play the organ. So do please help us to build
up our numbers and to keep alive the great musical tradition,
which has been developed over so many years.
Come along to a practice (Friday evenings 7.00pm) or call

We are awaiting your call!
