PLEASE READ THIS TO ANYONE BLIND OR PARTIALLY SIGHTED
A volunteer has approached ICN with a view to recording to audio cassette each monthly edition of the magazine, for distribution to Village residents, and postal copy readers, who are blind or partially sighted.
Because of the Data Protection Act LBH cannot supply the Editor with names and addresses of those who fall into this category.
If you know anyone already in receipt of ICN who suffers from this disability perhaps you would be kind enough to advise them of our possible plans and encourage them to call David Crane on 01895 632442, or perhaps do this yourself after asking their permission. In this way David can discover how many cassettes might need to be produced and to whom and where they should be distributed. Obviously if this comes to fruition we will have to get some idea of the cost of buying cassettes, ‘Jiffy’ bags in which to post them and how we can receive back cassettes after they have been listened to. Rumour has it that postage might be free for this sort of venture.
It is hoped that editions of the Hillingdon Talking Newspaper, already distributed to Villagers, will start with an advertisement for this venture.
A PERSONAL MESSAGE FROM THE ROSSERS
Sheena and Richard Rosser, Keith and Rachel, would like to pass on via ICN their heartfelt thanks to all those who prayed for their son/brother Colin in his time of need, and have supported the family
since October with phone calls, letters, cards, emails, flowers and other gifts. Colin was relieved to survive major brain surgery, and hopefully the residual damage from the tumour will in due course heal itself and allow him to get back to a more or less normal life.
WANTED STAGE STRUCK STUDENTS
ROS Stage Works, the Young People’s Theatre Workshop, will be running a Summer School of performing arts this August, at the Winston Churchill Hall in Ruislip.
This exciting project, co-ordinated and funded by Ruislip Operatic Society with support and sponsorship from LB Hillingdon Service in the Community Programme, will be open to budding entertainers across the borough, aged 8 to 17, whether or not they’ve already enjoyed a moment in the spotlight.
The Stage Works Summer School will include an introduction to some basics of stagecraft, wardrobe, make-up, props, lighting and sound. Seven days of workshops and rehearsals will build to a full-scale performance on the Winston Churchill Hall stage on Saturday 5th August for an audience of family and friends.
Application details will follow in next month's issue.

We also regularly invite speakers from outside to come and talk to us on a very wide range of subjects, which are always found to be very interesting.
Every year we celebrate the group’s birthday (21st last April) and also hold a garden party in August, weather permitting of course! !
We would be pleased to be given the opportunity to talk and explain further about our group to any that are interested in joining. Please ‘phone 01895 638488.
