FREDDIE GRAY
1914 2006
On 19th January, prior to committal in Amersham Cemetery, the Revd. Adrian Guthrie, conducted a service of thanksgiving for the life of Freddie Gray. Peggy and family appreciated the love and warmth that was shown to them.
During his long and extremely happy life in Ickenham, Freddie had given time and energy to St Giles’ Church latterly enjoying many years on his allotment behind Charlotte Gell Cottages in Swakeleys Road, where with John Bishop and friends much peace and pleasure was found.

VILLAGE POND AND SIGNPOST

We hope you have all noticed how much better our pond is now looking, and there is more work to be done on it in the coming months. Our signpost will also be renovated and repainted. There is rumour, too, that the Village might be getting new street furniture sometime this year.
ERIC’S JOTTINGS
Eric Goodall, deceased, (see February ICN) was rather fond of jotting down, in his notebooks, things he heard, read, or thought up. While looking through a notebook dated 25th October 2005, Eric’s widow Carrie came across the following uplifting items. They are reproduced here with her permission, and for your spiritual pleasure.
a) God is like a ring main,
His power is always there,
So plug in and listen,
Stop tearing out your hair.
b) Pleasure comes in various ways,
It brings delight but seldom stays.
It may be common, it may be rare,
But just enjoy it, while it’s there.
THE PARKINSONS DISEASE SOCIETY (HILLINGDON BRANCH)
PDS is planning to repeat its Coffee Morning and Information Day on the 29th April in the Village Hall. We are opening 10 a.m. to 12 noon, and will be serving tea, coffee and other drinks, and a cake for £1.50, and hope you will come and meet old friends and support us at the same time.
There will be sales of cakes, jams, books, toys, white elephant, cards, and, of course, a bumper Raffle. Admission will be 30p on the door as a donation to the Society, and a member of staff from the Parkinsons Disease Society will man an Information Table, and talk to anyone interested in Parkinsons Disease." The branch meets at Christchurch Meeting Rooms in Uxbridge, every last Tuesday in the month 2 p.m. until 3.45 p.m.
