Meet outside the Village Hall at 10 a.m on Saturday 23rd December. All welcome. Refreshments provided for the singers half way through. Why not join us to make up an even larger ‘choir’?
ST GILES’ ‘POSADA’
As part of our celebrations of Advent, St Giles’ Church is, once again, organising a modern POSADA (this is the Spanish word for ‘inn’).
Each day during Advent, small figures of Mary and Joseph will travel round Ickenham from one home to another, returning to church on Christmas Eve. This will help us to think about making room for Jesus in our homes and in our lives, particularly recalling how there was no room for Mary and Joseph in the inn.

YOUR ADVENT READING
Daily Advent Reflections by Nick Fawcett. Published by Kevin Mayhew (ISBN 1-84417-141-8) price £9.99 and available at Christian bookshops.
A really good way to prepare for Christmas is to stop all the rushing around for a few minutes, and sit and spend time with God! Most of us find that really difficult when the pressure is on, so a book that guides us through a daily time of Bible study, reflection and prayer, is an advent gift! If you are not already using a Bible reading scheme, now's the time to start with this very helpful book.
The author writes:
'We consider the hope of Advent, asking whether our expectations need to be stretched, opened to new horizons. We ask in what way we need to prepare ourselves to welcome Christ into our lives, both now and on his final return in glory. We reflect on why Advent gives us grounds to trust in God despite everything that life may throw at us. We look at the response people made to Christ at the time of his birth and the response we are called to make in turn. Finally we explore in what ways the coming of Christ is good news for today.'
ST GILES’ JUNIOR CHURCH
On Sunday 17th December in the Church Hall at 9.45 a.m. the Explorers, Climbers and Scramblers will again present their Nativity Plays. All parents, grandparents, and friends are welcome to come to this short service (maximum three quarters of an hour) with carols.
CHRISTMAS MURAL

Junior Church produced a Christmas mural and the work was created on Sunday 19th November in the front hall when the Scramblers, Climbers, Explorers and Pathfinders worked together. The Brownies' contributions as well as those of Jack and Jill were done at other times. The entire mural, for all to view, was collated and displayed on the morning of 26th November.
Do take a look if you are passing when refreshments are served after Sunday services.
