MORE TEA, VICAR?

It was service with a smile from the young waitresses at St Giles’ Hall on 21st April, when the Junior Church provided a variety of cakes and refreshments for parents and friends at Afternoon Tea.  Everyone tucked in, happy to be raising funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

There was also a chance to view the range of crafts created by the children during Lent.  It looks like the children are getting in some practice for Holiday Club!

AND SPEAKING OF HOLIDAY CLUB...

Join your friends at Holiday Club!

By the time you are reading this, the big event will be less than eight weeks away.  Ickenham Churches’ Junior Holiday Club is the place to be in the first week of the summer holiday.  If you are aged 7-11 (now in school Years 2-6) then come along and join in the fun from Monday 23rd July to Friday 27th July when, as usual, the Grand Finale will take place in the Rectory Garden.

It’s a week packed with fun, stories, games, songs, sport, crafts, and trips.  And it’s full of familiar faces.  So don’t miss out.  Reminder notices will be given out at both Ickenham junior schools, but mark it in your diary now.

Registration will be from 3.30 – 5.30pm on Friday 13th July in the forecourt of the URC.  For further details, contact Anne Whitlam on 01895 678169, or Diana May on 01895 234813.

WHY NOT GIVE BOWLS A TRY?

There is still time to sample the sport of bowls at two local clubs, which are providing Open Day sessions for beginners and improvers during June.

For beginners -

Ruislip Bowls Club, a mixed club next to Ruislip Library, is featuring Open Day sessions on Sun 10th June and Sat 23rd June, in both cases from 11am until 5pm.  Come and try this new form of leisure.  All equipment is provided.  Just turn up, wearing flat soled shoes or trainers, and be prepared to enjoy this healthy out-door sport amongst friends.

For further details, ring Jim Baker on 020 8868 5132.

And improvers, too...

Swakeleys Bowls Club is located in the Swakeleys Estate and is approached from The Avenue.  There are vacancies for new and experienced bowlers, both men and women, of all ages.  Coaching sessions are currently being organised for beginners and improvers.  Additionally, members of the public are invited to visit the club and test their bowling skills on the Open Days of Tues 19th June, and Wed 20th June, in each case from 12 – 4pm and also 6 – 8pm.  All equipment will be provided and instruction is available.

For further details please contact Norman King on 01895 636166.
