STRAWBERRY FAYRE

Bucks Fizz, strawberries and a chocolate fountain: that’s what you have to cope with when undertaking photography duty for ICN.  But when you had fought your way through the crowds at Guide HQ you were more than ready for some refreshment at the Brownies’ Strawberry Fayre on 12th June.  And the fruit obviously counts towards your ‘five portions a day’!

There was a great turnout of Brownies, relatives and friends for this popular fundraising event, where Sue Hughes was kept especially busy at that chocolate fountain.

PARKINSON’S COFFEE MORNING SUCCESS

The Parkinson’s Disease Society (Hillingdon branch) had a grand day on Saturday 12th May in the Village Hall.  Members and friends came to a bumper Coffee Morning and found lots to buy and eat.  The cakes were super, our plant sale was the best ever, and goods sold out in no time.  The fuchsias were in perfect condition and were very popular, and the geraniums too.  All our other stands did well, so we hoped for a good injection of funds into the branch.  With over £880 raised, we were not disappointed!

Attendances were high, and we would like to thank all who came and added to the happy atmosphere.  The big white bear was won by a very small girl who walked off delirious with her huge prize.

We were visited by an adviser from our National Office, and the Community Service Worker from the Harrow branch of the PDS, who talked to many of the visitors about Parkinson’s Disease.  We recruited one new member as a result who we hope will benefit from joining the Society.

We meet at 2pm on the last Tuesday in the month at Christchurch meeting rooms in Redford Way, just off Belmont Road, Uxbridge.  If you are interested in joining us, please call to learn more on 01895 638020.
