Each week at St Giles’ Church we pray for all the people who live or work in a particular road in the Parish. During October we will pray for the following roads:
Oct 7th Campden Road
Oct 14th Charlbury Road
Oct 21st Charlton Close
Oct 28th Clovelly Avenue
If you live in one of these roads why not join us at our 8am or 9.45am services? You will be most welcome.
My family wish to join me in thanking everyone in the community of Ickenham for their kind thoughts and prayers during the very difficult period in July when my husband, Bernard, was missing. The knowledge that so many people, most of whom were strangers to us, were giving support in any way they could, gave us the strength to be positive and retain our hope. If anyone is unaware of the outcome, he was found some miles from here, four days later, still alive, though in need of urgent medical attention. Again, inadequate though it seems, thank you, everyone.

Ickenham & Swakeleys Horticultural Society had a good turnout for its Autumn Show on 8th September. Local actress Ashley Walker, (who has appeared on films and television including ‘A Touch of Frost’), presented the many prizes. John Henley won the Certificate of Merit for his splendid ‘Winston’ potatoes in the Vegetable Class. Other Merit Award winners were: Rose Bennett for her scrumptious ‘Ben’s Reds’ apples, Beryl Upton for an enticing cake, Margaret Mayes for very palatable wine, and John Stokes for his astonishing dahlias. John Stokes entered dahlias in no less than ten categories with blooms ranging from less than two inches (‘Pompom’) to one (‘Paul Emery’) 12 inches across. Nearly all of his flowers were grown on his allotment in Ickenham Green. Chairman Ralph Hughes said, “The overall entries were somewhat lower this year, due to the unusual weather we’ve experienced. However, the vegetables were particularly good. I’m delighted with the number of enthusiasts who have attended this social occasion for the Village.”
