In the latest issue of ICN you can read about the anniversary Covenant Service which took place at the URC recently. It was a wonderful opportunity to consider and give thanks for all the ways in which the churches in Ickenham work ‘better together’. Men’s breakfasts, women’s groups, Holiday Club, joining forces for Christian Aid Week, ICN and Click Rukiga the list goes on and on!
There were “lights, cameras and action” aplenty in Sussex Road when it was used as a location for filming scenes for the forthcoming film “Nowhere Boy”, about the early life of Beatle John Lennon. For two days, the street was full of period cars and Teddy Boys. Watch out for the local views when the film, starring Aaron Johnson, Anne Marie Duff and Kristin Scott Thomas, hits the screen next year.
Watch out too, for a wide range of events coming this month in Ickenham, including the Abbeyfield Garden Party, the first of the Vyners’ 50th Anniversary reunions, as well as Glebe’s and Breakspear’s Summer Fetes.
Be especially sure to get along to the URC Forecourt on 20th June for the Charity Car Wash in aid of Rukiga. At only £5 per car for such a good cause, it’s a great excuse not to have to do it yourself this time!
